Joana Vasconcelos. Large Apartments and Gardens

Château de Versailles 19.06-30.09.2012

Joana Vasconcelos represents contemporary art this year at the Palace of Versailles.

Following the invitations to Jeff Koons, Takashi Murakami, Xavier Veilhan and Bernar Venet, Joana Vasconcelos' work resonates with the duality underlying the Versailles project, with the ambivalence between the classical and the baroque that Louis Marin also described.

The exhibition is conceived not as a spatial decoration but as a contemporary victory over a mythical place. With the displacements, metamorphoses and displacements of objects that traverse time and dissociate symbols, like a temporary madness, the exhibition offers itself to visitors in moments of overwhelming harmony and dissonance.
