Royal Institute of British Architects awards 2012 Gold Medal to architect Peter Zumthor

The Royal Institute of British Architects has announced the award of the 2012 Gold Medal to architect Peter Zumthor. RIBA President, Angela Brady states that "Architect Peter Zumthor's work reinvigorates the links with the tradition of modern architecture that emphasizes place, community and commonplace materials. His writing dwells on the experience of design, construction and inhabitation while his buildings engage in a dialog with architectural history. I will be delighted to present him with the Gold Medal".
