Oana Marinache - Cristofi Cerchez, an old architect from Bucharest

ACS Publishing House, Monographs Collection, Bucharest, 2012

On the occasion of the 140th anniversary of the architect's birth, the work "Cristofi Cerchez, an old architect from Bucharest" aims to restore his well-deserved place in the history of Bucharest and in the history of Romanian architecture from a double perspective. From the point of view of the planned works, whether realized, unrealized, or disappeared, it is a first attempt to bring together all the sources of information, documents, and plans identified at this time.

The second perspective of the work is a theoretical one, aiming to identify the architect's vision of "Romanian" art and architecture and to highlight the sources of inspiration that were the basis of an architectural heritage realized over more than 45 years, from 1898 to 1945.

The research carried out in the National Archives of Romania, the central and county directorates, the Academy Library, the National Heritage Institute, in addition to the unpublished Cerchez-Condurățeanu family collection, has brought to light over 50 private and public (civil and religious) architectural buildings that deserve to occupy a place of prominence in our heritage.

The book has been published with the support of the Romanian Union of Architects with funding from the Architecture Stamp
