Launch of the national competition for the selection of the project that will represent Romania at the 15th edition of the International Architecture Exhibition - la Biennale di Venezia 2016

The Ministry of Culture, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Romanian Cultural Institute and the Romanian Union of Architects are organizing the competition for the selection of the project that will represent Romania at the 15th edition of the International Architecture Exhibition - la Biennale di Venezia, a public creative competition open to the participation of individual authors or those gathered in collectives or non-governmental organizations.

In 2016, the project that will represent Romania at the 15th edition of the International Architecture Exhibition - la Biennale di Venezia in the National Participation section, will be realized in two exhibition spaces: the Romanian Pavilion in the Giardini della Biennale and the New Gallery of the Romanian Institute for Culture and Humanistic Research in Venice. The 2016 edition of the Biennale will take place from May 28 to November 27, 2016, with preview for specialists and press on May 26 and 27, 2016.

In order to fulfill the purpose of the competition, a Jury and a Commission for the settlement of objections will be established. Their composition as well as the rules of organization and functioning will be approved by order of the Minister of Culture and will be communicated by 1 December 2015.

In order to participate in the competition, the applicant must submit a project containing the obligatory documentation set out in the Regulations for the organization of the competition posted on the websites of the Ministry of Culture: www.cultura.ro, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs www.mae.ro, the Romanian Cultural Institute www.icr.ro and the Romanian Union of Architects www.uarconcursuri.org. The competition is not open to persons who have participated in its organization, in the drafting of the rules, employees of the organizing institutions, members of the jury and of the jury's appeals committee or members of their families up to the second degree inclusive. Members of the jury and of the jury's jury and of the jury's jury for settling the contest may not receive professional assignments related to the preparation of the projects to be entered in the contest.

Registration to the Competition will be free of charge, by submitting the documentation to the headquarters of the Romanian Union of Architects, 48 Jean Louis Calderon Street, sector 2, code 020038, Bucharest, until January 20, 2016, 17.00. Projects submitted by e-mail or fax, incomplete projects, those that do not comply with the requirements imposed by the organizers and those that will reach the U.A.R. after the date mentioned, regardless of the method of transmissionwill not be taken into consideration.
