LivingKitchen - the event experience
"In 2013, the imm cologne and LivingKitchen are very much a talking point in the international furnishing and kitchen sector. From 14 - 20 January 2013, more than 1,250 companies from 50 countries will be in Cologne to present over 100,000 pieces of furniture and other furnishing items with huge innovation potential: about one third of these exhibits are totally new. In 2013, the imm cologne and the international kitchen show LivingKitchen will once again meet all the expectations of an international event: two thirds of the exhibitors will be coming from abroad. Italy, Belgium, Austria, Spain, France, Poland and Sweden will be sending the strongest foreign contingents. Nowhere else will visitors find so many international providers from the various segments. I am firmly convinced that we will succeed in attracting more than 140,000 visitors to our two trade fairs - 45,000 of whom are expected to come from abroad," explains Frank Haubold, Vice President Trade Fair Management.
In 2013, together with LivingKitchen, the imm cologne will occupy more than 280,000 m² of space - and thus fill the entire exhibition centre.
In Cologne, design is a theme that looks back on a long tradition. In future, it will be accentuated and publicised even more. The Pure concept is made up of three elements. Hall 11 - the heart of the Pure design segment and its biggest section - is the traditional home for all design brands in search of strongly branded booths. It is dominated by major brands like Interlübke, Ligne Roset, Team 7, Walter Knoll, Rolf Benz, B& B Italia or Poliform with their latest products. In contrast, Pure Village in Hall 3.1 is characterised by a consistently planned trade show architecture with a village-like structure. In this section, the focus is on the presentation of understated product displays or fascinating interior concepts. Particularly due to the presence of projects like "Das Haus", "The Stage" and [D³], there is an inspiring and very emotional facet to Pure Village. This year's imm cologne will be featuring a new attraction: Pure Editions in Hall 3.2. To begin with, the format created here will seem unfamiliar to many visitors in terms of its mix of product ranges and the way they are presented. The concept is intended to cause a stir and change habitual ways of looking at things: varied exhibition architecture of moderate dimensions, exciting scenographies and installations depicting the current interior trends, groundbreaking design objects and new editions of classics that were visionary in their day will give professionals a wealth of unconventional design ideas for their day-to-day work.
In addition, Hall 3.2 is also the new home for the textile curators of Pure Textile. Besides Sahco and Kinnasand, Christian Fischbacher, Création Baumann, JAB Anstoetz, Nya Nordiska, Chivasso, Wellmann and Zimmer + Rohde also come together under the Pure Textile umbrella. Together they depict the wide variety of high-end decorative fabrics that are becoming increasingly important for the interior design context that exclusive furniture is embedded in. A total of more than 300 exhibitors will be showcasing their products in our design sections Pure, Pure Village and Pure Editions.
This January, Cologne won't just be the focal point for furnishing and interior design, it will be a magnet for the kitchen industry as well. Parallel to the imm cologne, the international LivingKitchen event will also be opening its doors again in 2013 and hosting almost 200 exhibitors. The second edition of LivingKitchen promises to be a kitchen exhibition the likes of which have never been seen before. In Cologne, global market leaders will be vying with one another and coming face to face with their international competitors - the Champions League of the kitchen furnishings and built-in appliance industry will be presenting itself in the motherland of the fitted kitchen. The event will showcase kitchens in all their many and varied facets: nowhere else can modern kitchens be experienced with the same intensity, depth and variety. Besides kitchen furnishings, the international manufacturers will also be presenting kitchen appliances, sinks, tap fittings, sophisticated worktops, lighting solutions and accessories.
Some very strong brands indeed will be using LivingKitchen as a presentation and business platform for addressing trade visitors and consumers from around the globe. Besides Nobilia, Alno, Leicht, Häcker, Schüller, allmilmö/zeyko, Bauformat and Nolte, the built-in appliance providers will also be very prominently represented. Amongst them are AEG/Electrolux, Bauknecht, Beko, Bosch, Gaggenau, Gorenje, Liebherr, Miele, Neff and Siemens.
Besides presenting a product spectrum that is doubtless unparalleled anywhere else in the world, a top fair also has to develop innovative concepts that create an added value for visitors and exhibitors alike. "Das Haus - Interiors on Stage" is one such format. The imm cologne's focus here is on the creation of a living situation within the trade fair - public yet very personal living space as envisaged by a top designer. In 2012, London design studio Doshi Levien was responsible for the project. This year, Italian designer Luca Nichetto will be designing "Das Haus".
Anyone who wants to keep bang up to date on the successful dual trade fair can follow both events via social networking platforms Facebook and xing, microblogging service twitter, photo database flickr or video-sharing website YouTube.
