From seemingly trivial reinterpretations of the Gothic to baroque crucifix distortions, Wim Delvoye's art, which has as its primary source the ironic hijacking of past artistic currents, enters into organic harmony with the Louvre's spaces and collections.

A series of 30 recent works in stained-glass, porcelain and bronze testify to the artist's in-depth research into 19th-century sculpture and his exploration of digital techniques of reproduction.

After Tony Cragg, Wim Delvoye is the second artist invited to design a new monumental sculpture: a huge 11-meter-tall, twisted stainless steel Gothic fleche called Suppo.

At the same time, an imposing work in scalloped Corten steel is on show in the Tuileries and will be part of the FIAC's sculpture trail this fall.

The exhibition is accompanied by a monograph - "Wim Delvoye, Introspective" - which proposes a complete and critical mapping of the work of one of the most controversial figures in contemporary art and a catalog - "Wim Delvoye au Louvre" - which analyzes the many facets of the exhibition and the artist's relationship with the museum and art history.

In dialogue with this event, the Galerie Perrotin in Paris organized a solo exhibition by the Belgian artist from 12 May to 16 June.
