ADIAF - Marcel Duchamp Prize
ADIAF - Association for the International Diffusion of French Art
Created in 1994 on the initiative of Gilles Fuchs, ADIAF - the Association for the International Diffusion of French Art - currently brings together some 300 collectors and amateurs of contemporary art who are intensely engaged in the adventure of creation.
Driven by private collectors and supported by patronage, ADIAF's mission is to contribute to international awareness of the French art scene and to sensitize the general public to the vitality of contemporary creations.
MARCEL DUCHAMP PRIZE
Created in 2000 by ADIAF, the Marcel Duchamp Prize is awarded each year to a French artist or an artist resident in France working in the plastic and visual arts. Over the past 12 years, more than 50 French artists have been awarded this prize, considered to be the most innovative of their generation: Thomas Hirschhorn (2000); Dominique Gonzalez-Foerster (2002); Mathieu Mercier (2003); Carole Benzaken (2004); Claude Closky (2005); Philippe Mayaux (2006); Tatiana Trouvé (2007); Laurent Grasso (2008); Sâadane Afif (2009), Cyprien Gaillard (2010); Mircea Cantor (2011). Since its creation, the prize has benefited from a reference partnership with the Centre Pompidou, the National Museum of Modern Art and, since 2005, FIAC, the International Contemporary Art Fair, and has succeeded in mobilizing an artistic network of exceptional quality. It is now one of the most prestigious prizes in the world of contemporary art.
