Serpentine Gallery Pavilion

The 15th Serpentine Gallery Pavilion will be open from June 25 to October 18, 2015 in London. Spanish architects José Selgas and Lucía Cano Selgascano, known for their semi-submerged structures built in harmony with nature, have kept their promise and created a pavilion that is "absolutely experimental", "truly embracing Kensington Gardens", as they like to experiment with new materials and forms. This year's pavilion is made of ETFE, a translucent, multicolored, fluorine-based polymer plastic.

Guggenheim Museum Helsinki

After a competition boasting the largest entry in the history of any architectural competition (1,715 entries from 80 countries), the future Guggenheim Museum in Helsinki will be built by Moreau Kusunoki Architects. The winning design "Art in the City" features nine pavilions and a light tower clad in charred wood. The jury praised the concept for respecting the site, proposing a fragmented, non-hierarchical campus composed of independent volumes highlighted by a landmark tower.
