MIES VAN DER ROHE AWARD 2019

At the end of 2018, the projects competing this year for the European Union Prize for Contemporary Architecture Mies van der Rohe were nominated: 383 projects from 238 cities in 38 countries. Each edition of the prestigious European Architecture Prize brings together the latest projects from Norway to Cyprus and from Portugal to Georgia, building a map of European contemporary architecture and reflecting all the current challenges and priorities in the field.
The jury of the 2019 competition consists of 7 professionals: Dorte Mandrup (architect, Copenhagen), George Arbid (architect and critic, Beirut), Angelika Fitz (theorist and curator), Ștefan Ghenciulescu (architect, publicist and researcher, Bucharest), Kamiel Klaasse (architect, Amsterdam), María Langarita (architect, Madrid), Frank McDonald (journalist, Dublin).
Seven projects from Romania were nominated in the shortlist of 383 projects participating in the competition and two of them were selected in the shortlist of 40 projects announced in January 2019.
