DIPLOMA, the national festival of young artists starts

The sixth edition of the DIPLOMA festival, a project initiated by The Institute and inspired by UniCredit Bank, is starting. From October 11-20, visitors have the opportunity to admire more than 120 works by graduates of Romanian creative-vocational faculties, class of 2019, in the historic monument building at 3 C.A. Rosetti Street (George Enescu Square), reopened on this occasion to the general public. The opening of the exhibition will take place on Friday, October 11, starting at 19:00, and is part of the White Night of Galleries - NAG. DJ set prepared by Vlad Dobrescu. Free admission.

DIPLOMA Festival showcases the best graduation works of the next generation of artists and creatives, such as fine arts, decorative arts, architecture and design, before their authors become famous. In addition, it is an opportunity for creatives to have a first contact with the art market and the professional environment to which they aspire.

The exhibition tour includes works of Architecture, Interior Architecture, Urbanism, Graphic Design, Industrial and Object Design, Fashion, Painting, Sculpture, Mural Art, Textile Art, Ceramics - Glass - Metal, Graphic Design or Photo-Video.

This year's exhibition design is by Attila Kim Architects.

The selection of projects is made by a creative board that brings together this year more than 40 seniors in the creative fields: architects, designers, gallery owners, cultural managers, urban planners, photographers, stylists, editors, entrepreneurs, graphic designers, active professionals dedicated to their field. The festival also includes a series of conferences, Diploma Talks, organized this year in panel format, as well as a linocut sticker workshop by artist Maria Bălan, in collaboration with feeder.ro. The Diploma Talks conferences are developed together with the National University of Arts Bucharest, the Ion Mincu University of Architecture and Urbanism and the Romanian Order of Architects.

In addition, to mark the strategic partnerships with leading Romanian design universities, DIPLOMA 2019 includes three capsule exhibitions dedicated to the West University of Timișoara - marking 75 years of existence, the National University of Arts Bucharest (UNArte), celebrating 50 years since the establishment of the first higher education design department in Romania, and the University of Arts and Design Cluj Napoca (UAD), also celebrating 25 years of the UAD Fashion Design Gala.

Addressed to students and young graduates of applied arts, the conference moderated by designer Carla Szabo will present a series of examples and recipes of creative businesses in Romania, but especially the secrets of the anatomy of a successful business: from marketing and pricing strategies, to communication, distribution or how to make a business plan.

The conference will bring in front of young artists Andreea Tron (founder of Atelier Tron), Elisabeta Gedo (fashion editor Glamour), Florin Cobuz (co-CEO NOD Makerspace), Laura Călin (founder of V Fair), Mihaela Glăvan (founder of Mihaela Glăvan) and Mirela Bucovicean (founder of Molecule F).

A conference dedicated to young art students and graduates who are interested in finding out, directly from specialists, how the Romanian art market works, its specificities, but above all how and what they can do to enter this universe quickly.

The conference will be held by Carmen Casiuc (curator), Ioana Ciocan (Art Safari director), Mihai Zgondoiu (artist, curator), Roxana Gamarț (founder of MOBIUS Gallery) and Suzana Dan (founder of the White Night of Galleries).

Ways of practicing architecture

The conference is addressed to young students and graduates of architecture and urbanism and aims to present them a series of opportunities and possibilities at the beginning of their career, as well as to establish pragmatic aspects related to the internship and alternative ways of practicing as an architect.

The moderator will be Raluca Munteanu, architect and vice-president of OAR, and will be joined by architects Anca Cioarec and Brîndușa Tudor (Stardust Architects), Irina Meliță (partner Poster, vice-president of OAR Bucharest), Iulia Stanciu (founder of STARH, president of CNADS OAR, professor at UAUIM) and Justin Baroncea.

The conference is part of a series of projects dedicated to young architects by the Romanian Order of Architects.

The workshop aims to explore art as a means of urban regeneration, using street art to mark favorite places in Bucharest, the city becoming a collective canvas.

The workshop also aims to encourage individual expression and facilitate dialog. Everyone is welcome, regardless of artistic ability. The workshop is organized in collaboration with feeder.ro platform.

Exhibition Bianca before Bianca Mann // @UniCredit Tower, Exhibition Boulevard 1 F

The solo exhibition by Bianca Mann, a highly acclaimed contemporary artist, whose works were first presented as part of the DIPLOMA 2015 project, when she exhibited her installation PERSONA, traces the artistic path and the main stages through which she has developed and distinguished herself. The exhibition includes a selection of projects and works that the artist has developed in recent years with prestigious galleries or art festivals.

Bianca before Bianca Mann, a project by The Institute inspired by UniCredit Bank and realized with the support of Mobius Gallery, is a demonstration of the importance and necessity of supporting Romania's future great artists.
