SoNoRo Conac 8th edition - "Gone with the Wind"
This year, the SoNoRo Conac tour reaches its 8th edition and invites classical music lovers to a musical adventure in poetic and legendary places in various corners of the country. The gardens of palaces and manor houses will host open-air concerts, combining the charm of a chamber music concert with that of a summer evening.
The tour will begin on July 11, 2020 with a concert at the "Alexandru Vlahuță" Memorial House in Dragosloveni, where the Romanian writer spent the most beautiful period of his life, as he himself confessed. The house is home to a collection of paintings by Nicolae Grigorescu, with whom the Romanian writer was related, and archive images of Romanian cultural personalities who met in the house in the hills of Vrâncene: Ion Luca Caragiale, Barbu Delavrancea, Șt. O. Iosif, Mateiu I. Caragiale, Gheorghe Brătescu - Voinești, Nicolae Grigorescu, Nicolae Iorga, Constantin Dobrogeanu - Gherea, Octavian Goga, Gala Galaction.

Access to SoNoRo Conac concerts is free of charge and is by invitation or reservation, subject to availability, at: rezervari@sonoro.ro or 0741.190.470.
"We are going through a tough year, but we are grateful for the opportunity to be able to recapture some of the joys of life before the coronavirus pandemic, concerts with an audience being one of them. Even though there are a number of limitations, we see them as opportunities and invite the public to open-air concerts "on the wings of the wind" in the gardens of the manor houses where we have planned to perform this year. We want to bring the listeners this summer to the tranquility of our country's mansions and heritage buildings, to enjoy the poetry, calm and stories of each place, often unjustly forgotten, places where great personalities of Romanian culture spent summers filled with music and poetry in the interwar period, a time we want to remember and recreate through our music.
This year, the flute, clarinet or harp will have the opportunity to allow the sound of the wind to be even more subtly perceived through a diaphanous, transparent repertoire, full of color and sumptuousness. Thus, the music of Claude Debussy or Stan Golestan, performed in the gardens of the houses of writers Alexandru Vlahuță and Mihail Sadoveanu, or in the courtyard of the mansion of composer Dinu Lipatti, will delight the audience and transport them back to those times when Romanian culture and architecture enjoyed a particularly flourishing period, a period whose fruits we still enjoy and which we should celebrate on every occasion", says musician Răzvan Popovici, the initiator of the SoNoRo Conac tour.
SoNoRo Conac is a project initiated by the Sonoro Association, with the support of its main partner BRD - Groupe Société Générale, with the aim of mediating favorable contexts for saving important monuments of Romanian heritage and bringing to the attention of the public and authorities remarkable Romanian values that have been forgotten.
"We are happy to be able to restart the Sonoro Conac concert series, and surely, this year more than ever, music will bring us more joy, hope and harmony. We have seen many music-related initiatives during this period of isolation: from music played on balconies by ordinary people, to great orchestras mobilizing from home to give memorable performances to the public. All over the world music has been both a refuge and a way to fight fear and separation. Today, we are grateful to be able to listen to SoNoRo concerts together with BRD customers, our partners and the general public, in the gardens of the most beautiful mansions in Romania, because music, art, culture are part of our everyday life and are the ingredients that contribute to our development as people" - said Flavia Popa, Secretary General of BRD Groupe Société Générale.
The SoNoRo Conac concerts will be performed by internationally renowned musicians, such as Nicolas Dautricourt (violin), Diana Ketler (piano), Justus Grimm (cello), together with well-known Romanian musicians, Răzvan Popovici (viol), Ion Bogdan Ștefănescu (flute), Cristina Mihart (piano), Maria Bîldea and Miruna Nagy (harp).

About SoNoRo Conac
Initiated in 2013, the SoNoRo Conac tour set out from the very beginning to suggest the need for respect, attention and support for Romania's extraordinary cultural heritage and resources by associating music with various emblematic architectural works in Romania. SoNoRo Conac started from the idea of restoring chamber music to its original, intimate space, conducive to cultural dialog and active listening by a small audience. This project aims to raise public awareness of the plethora of rehabilitated heritage buildings - fabulous, spectacular, elegant buildings that need to be brought back into the cultural circuit. In its seven editions, the SoNoRo Conac tour has put more than 100 heritage buildings, some of them completely unknown to the local public, on the emotional map of our country, but it has also drawn the attention of the international public to some of the most beautiful architectural symbols of our country.
