2031 NOW_our cities in 10 years is an international competition supported by the Globalworth Foundation and organized by Igloo - Habitat and Architecture Association which is addressed to architecture, urban planning and design students from Poland and Romania. The prizes amount to 11.000 Euro, plus the opportunity to present the projects at the High Tech Learning Center of the University of Architecture and Urbanism "Ion Mincu" Bucharest, as well as their publication in a dedicated catalog.

Competitors are invited to develop an urban vision in which spaces can act as a generator of better places for both the direct users and the surrounding community. This will be illustrated on a generic 20,310 square meter (2,031 ha) site. The theme invites participants to introduce mixed-use buildings, community spaces, parks, infrastructure, all connected in a new articulation that can be built in 2031.

The competition entries will be judged by a jury composed of prestigious architects and professors, as well as representatives of the organizers: Bruno Andreșoiu, Arjan Dingsté, Krzysztof Ingarden, Dimitris Pergamalis, Jakub Szczęsny and Andrei Șerbescu.

"2031 NOW_our cities in 10 years is the competition through which we are taking steps towards fulfilling our commitment to build the most functional, sustainable and harmonious cities for our business communities and beyond. We are glad to have a partner in this endeavor like the Igloo Association - Habitat and Architecture, with the help of which we support the future of architecture in the two countries where Globalworth is market leader: Poland and Romania. Globalworth builds office buildings and in our daily work we have all become aware of the increased importance of architects. They are the ones who shape our homes, office buildings, cities, the places in which we shape our lives. We hope that this international competition, with the prestigious jury it has succeeded in building, will encourage and solidify the future of architecture," said Georgiana Iliescu, Executive Director of the Globalworth Foundation.

"The competition is, for architecture students, the best training for the challenges of the profession they are about to enter and it would be recommended, in my opinion, to be part of the curriculum, with at least equal weighting to the practical. The competition of ideas is the most nourishing substance for the mind that has to keep dreaming while working with heavy matter, sometimes absurd constraints and laws. Exposing the minds of young architects to the themes and rigors of idea competitions is formative in the most significant way. Being able to create, receive feedback from experienced judges and win a prize is an opportunity no student architect should be without. 2031 NOW_our cities in 10 years, the competition that we are privileged to organize together with the Globalworth Foundation, is first and foremost an opportunity for creative reflection for almost architects, but also an opportunity to publicly showcase the visions that will shape the cities of our future", added Bruno Andreșoiu, President of Igloo - Habitat and Architecture Association.
