Igloo Association - Habitat and Architecture together with Globalworth Foundation is organizing the third Webinar of the 2031 NOW_our cities in ten years student competition in architecture and urbanism.

The event will take place online on Thursday, January 13, from 13:00 (Romanian time) and will be hosted by renowned architect and professor Krzysztof Ingarden, who will give a lecture based on a Polish-Japanese collaborative student project of urban regeneration of a residential area in 1960s Tokyo, with reference to the imaginary of modern 19th and 20th century urban utopias.

Conference: Urban Utopias. Can We Avoid Their Mistakes?

The chosen case study is the result of a semester-long collaboration between the University "Andrzej Frycz Modrzewski" in Krakow and Hosei University in Tokyo and is one of the projects rated "excellent", especially for its methodological coherence. Prof. Ingarden's presentation will therefore be a rare opportunity for Romanian students to have direct access to a successful project, examples of good practice and the evaluation mechanisms involved in such an approach.

Krzysztof Ingarden is a jury member of the 2031 NOW competition. He is also an architect, professor and dean of the Faculty of Architecture and Arts, "Andrzej Frycz Modrzewski" University of Cracow. In 1982 he graduated from Cracow Polytechnic, and between 1983 and 1985 he participated in a doctoral research internship at the School of Art and Design, University of Tsukuba, Japan. He has worked as an architect in offices in Japan and the USA. Director of Ingarden & Ewy. Curator of exhibitions.
