Dumbrava Vlăsiei is launching a new competition inviting architects to imagine an urban project of social interaction

30.03.2022

Dumbrava Vlăsiei launches a new architectural competition - Imagine Dumbrava Vlăsiei. An open-air, inviting architects to imagine a social space of interaction, a space of ideas that will explore how we live and interact together and complement the new community housed in the old Codri of Vlăsiei.
The competition is aimed at all design professionals, regardless of age and level of experience, both those at the beginning of their careers and those already established, giving them the chance to turn their ideas into tangible projects.
"Through this series of competitions we aim to contribute to the development of quality architecture in Romania and to encourage architects to produce bold and innovative urban and housing projects in Dumbrava Vlăsiei. Dumbrava Vlăsiei is a place where you can live freely, together and in harmony with others, a place where you can express yourself freely without disturbing others, and in its natural evolution the need for a social community space has arisen - this makes the challenge all the greater, as architects need to imagine how the inhabitants of Dumbrava Vlăsiei live together today, and in a few years' time, when it will be home to a larger community," explains Maria Ioan, Senior Sales Manager.
In the competition it is possible to participate as an individual or as a team, with the mention that in the case of individual participation, the contestant must be an architect with a valid signature right in Romania, and in the case of team participation, the team must establish a representative who fulfills the above-mentioned condition. Professionals in the field of architecture and design or any related professional fields, including students at the relevant faculties, may be co-opted as members of the competition team.

The competition will reward the project that best meets the standards of excellence, which will then join the other architectural examples present in the residential park - which, in turn, are the standard of development and construction in Dumbrava Vlăsiei, and exemplify how living in such a special place can be declined.
"Imagine Dumbrava Vlăsiei. A Place in the Open Air is an architectural challenge that aims to respond to an acute need, where urban spaces are important enough for communities, from an emotional and functional perspective, to require a tailored, not at all superficial approach. The project itself is a theme of reflection on ourselves as individuals in a community and how we interact and use public spaces - do we seek or reject ourselves? The competition offers an important opportunity to turn ideas into symbolic and sustainable constructions in the healthiest possible way - in a very special place where architecture has been organically integrated into the natural environment," says architect Adrian Soare, chairman of the jury that will evaluate the projects entered in the competition.
About Dumbrava Vlăsiei
Dumbrava Vlăsiei is a residential park in the north of Bucharest, a new community hosted by the old Codrii of Vlăsiei, spread over 90 hectares, including five neighboring and related villages.
Dumbrava Vlăsiei proposes a new type of neighborhood that reinvents for Romania the concept of the city - sustainable, comfortable and peaceful, with fully completed modern infrastructure, in harmony with the unique natural space offered by the forest. Here every family has the freedom to come up with their own housing project, and the architectural appearance of the already built author's houses gives a real insight into what Dumbrava Vlăsiei is like.
Within the residential park you can buy land for sale, with all utilities included, as well as some of the available one-off houses designed by renowned architectural offices. The developer of the project, Loreco Investments, values the investment in the project so far at around €50 million. Dumbrava Vlăsiei is already accommodating relocated families and is preparing to accommodate those whose homes are in various stages of development.
The place has been conceived as a self-sufficient community, offering its residents all the conditions to lead a healthy and high quality lifestyle, emphasizing the freedom to live without constraints and surprises.
