Cities of Tomorrow #10: Anniversary Edition
The Romanian-German Chamber of Commerce and Industry (AHK Romania) is organizing the tenth edition of the "Cities of Tomorrow" conference in a hybrid format from 05-12 April 2022. The main event will take place on Tuesday, April 12 at the Crowne Plaza Bucharest Hotel.
"Cities of Tomorrow is a landmark event dedicated to urban and regional development. Around 250 participants from both the public and private sectors are expected at this year's edition. The event will be honored by the presence of special guests from Germany and Romania: public administration, civil society and the private sector will discuss in two retrospective panels: What has happened in Romanian cities and regions in the last 10 years? What have we learned together? Where are we now and what is the vision for the future?

We continued this year the concept of online round tables, which allows participants to be more intensively involved, giving them the opportunity to discuss for two hours concrete and applied different topics and projects, chosen according to the topicality and necessity of the theme, and to find concrete ideas and solutions that they can implement in their own projects. The conclusions and insights from the nine round tables will form the basis for future actions. The nine round tables have already taken place online between April 05-07. Roundtable themes & sub-themes and moderators can be found here: https://www.citiesoftomorrow.ro/roundtables/
Relevant to the success of this event is both what happens during the days of the event, but more importantly what happens afterwards, how participants make use of the exchange of ideas, experience and contacts gained during the Cities of Tomorrow conference. After the interactive round table debates, participants will come together on April 12 for a short presentation of the solutions identified at each round table and the award ceremony for the winning projects.
In the run-up to this 10th edition of Cities of Tomorrow, a project competition was organized for public administration, business and civil society. We took into account the factor of sustainable development in the selection of the finalists. With the help of a jury of highly experienced personalities, 9 finalists have been selected - so 9 initiatives will enjoy special attention at this conference.

The nine finalist projects to be presented during the pitching session at the conference are:
- Public Administration Category: Buzău ("Smart - Green - Circular Buzău"), Municipality of Aiud ("Invest in Aiud") Sector 6 of Bucharest ("Liniei");
- Business Environment Category: Cruze -(Cruze - just go together); iNergy Agtech ("Cleantech. Made in RO"), UNITH2B SRL ("Tram Trains Resița Resița");
- Civil Society Category: GIS Berzei 21 ("An urban regeneration project in the heart of the city") Văcărești Natural Park; Timișoara Polytechnic University ("Digitizing history, one castle at a time").
