The Association Barză Viezure Mânz, an extremely active association in the southern part of the Romanian coastline and which has initiated numerous cultural projects including "Cinema at the seaside" and "Library Beach of Books", announces the start of the cultural project "LIMANU SUMMER SCHOOL 2024- MULTICULTURAL HERITAGE AT THE LIMIT".
The project is co-financed by the Administration of the National Cultural Fund (AFCN) and proposes a social, architectural and heritage analysis, the result of which is intended to be the awareness and sensitization of the local community in the main, but also of the society in general, towards the material and traditional values still existing in the southern part of the Romanian coast, with the focus on the Limanu commune and its modernization particularities.
During the proposed Summer School, architecture and sociology students, together with their tutors, will carry out a holistic research of the area that will generate a map of local material and natural heritage sites, a project for a library will be realized, which will allow the local community to have free access to books and a dedicated meeting place.
A series of events will be organized for and with the involvement of the local community, lectures by specialists in the field, exhibitions, a round table and awareness raising workshops.
As a general outcome, the drafting of a customized Good Practice Guideline for Limanu Commune will start.
The project will run from July 30 - November 15 and the Summer School from September 6 - 16, 2024. The detailed program of activities and events will be published on the Fb page and website.
The project partners are: Limanu Town Hall, Limanu Secondary School no. 1, Ion Mincu University of Architecture and Urbanism, Faculty of Sociology and Social Work of the University of Bucharest, Bucharest Branch of the Romanian Order of Architects, Romanian Union of Architects, SG Studio S.R.L publisher of Zeppelin and e-zeppelin.ro, ARHIPERA, Romcim.
