Three interior design projects.ANDA ȘTEFAN, DSBA
text: Anda ȘTEFAN, Maria MĂNESCU
Although they have been a couple for 30 years with the well-known architect Dorin Ștefan, a charismatic, highly talented and widely publicized character, considered one of the most important representatives of contemporary Romanian architecture, few are those who know that behind his outstanding achievements is, in addition to a team of young enthusiasts, a discreet but firm female presence: his wife, Anda Ștefan.
Born in Bucharest in 1959, Anda Ștefan attended the Bucharest High School of Architecture (1974-1978) and graduated from the Ion Mincu Institute of Architecture in 1986. In 1995 he attended York Management School in Toronto.
In 1990, together with Dorin Ștefan, she founded DSBA - Dorin Ștefan Birou de Arhitectură, which has been a success story until today. A story that Anda Ștefan tells with serenity.
Her main concerns at the firm are interior design and interior decoration. Anda Ștefan's track record in her own interior design office (PST-EST) and DSBA includes several participations in important projects (co-author): the Romanian Pavilion at Expo 1993, Taejon, Korea; Niran Co showroom, shops, offices; Société Générale (BRD) headquarters, Pictor Negulici str., Bucharest; the Romanian Pavilion at the World Expo 2005, Aichi, Japan; Opera Center, Cascade Building, str. Buzești, Bucharest (1999-2004); Romania's stand at the Leipzig Book Fair; EUROTOWER - Interior design of Generali headquarters; as well as a series of interior design projects for: Annart gallery and café, DADA creative studio, Dada restaurant and offices, ARCUB Batiștei, Sarroglia Hotel Bucharest, Edel House Hotel, Râșnov, Bulboacă Law Office, Oromolu House, Victoriei Office Building, Segula Technologies Romania offices, Forum Invest, Osteria Gioia Restaurant; apartments: Primăverii, One, Dogarilor, Predeal, Blacksea Ramma, private villas in Snagov, Corbeanca, Mândruțescu house.
She participated with architectural works at the Biennale of Architecture in Bucharest and Venice and at the Triennale of Architecture in Milan.
Anda Ștefan is passionate about photography, her debut exhibition "Windows and Doors" was hosted by Casa Vernescu in 2009. This was followed by her exhibitions "Bucharest" at the Macondo Club and "Metal" at the Attic Gallery in Swansea, and her participation in the London Festival of Architecture 2010 with a photography exhibition.
In this issue we present three of Andrea Ștefan's interior design works, three old buildings brought back to life and cleverly modernized through elegant, refined, discreet yet courageous interior design projects that blend the old with the new in a very personal and natural way. (M.M.)
