Transylvania Trust Foundation, responsible for the restoration and revitalization of Bánffy Castle in Bonțida, invites you to participate in the Built Heritage Restoration Camps organized at the castle in 2020.
Transylvania Trust Foundation has been organizing practical courses since 2001, trying to address the lack of professionals and skilled workers in the field of built heritage protection. So far we have had around 3000 trainees from 28 countries (Romania, Albania, Australia, Brazil, Belgium, Belgium, France, Hungary, Poland, Serbia, Slovenia, Sweden, United Kingdom, United States, United States, etc.).
Who can participate?
The camps are aimed in particular at students of architecture, construction engineering, landscape architecture, archaeology, art history, and other interested students. The courses are also aimed at workers in the construction industry who wish to specialize in the field, as well as other people who are interested in the restoration of historical monuments.

Course benefits
During the two weeks you will have the opportunity:
- to learn theoretical knowledge on restoration principles and methodology from specialized teachers from abroad and Romania and to put it into practice in workshops,
- actively participate in the restoration of Bánffy Castle in Bonțida,
- to meet other (future) professionals in the field of built heritage protection.
At the end of the restoration camp the trainees will receive a certificate of participation (recognized as a university internship - in case of students).
Course structure
- Theoretical preparation on the first day. Lectures by foreign guest lecturers will be simultaneously translated into three languages: Romanian, Hungarian, English.
- Practical training in one of the workshops:
1. Masonry, vault restoration (9 days), mural techniques (fresco, secco, sgraffito, stucco, marmorino - 2 days),
2. Stonemasonry - module 1 only,
3. Carpentry, traditional carpentry and restoration of old furniture
- Study trip.
Practical information:
The courses take place at Bánffy Castle in Bonțida, Romania. Accommodation and meals for participants are provided at the castle from the participation fee.
Registration details
Registration can be done online or by completing and sending the attached form to bhct@transylvaniatrust.ro.
Note: places are limited.
Theparticipation fee is 250 Euro/participant/camper, and for students 175 Euro/participant/camper (amount representing the participants' contribution to the training, accommodation and meals at the castle).
The registration deadline is March 31, 2020.
