10 exceptional projects in the final of the architecture competition

Romania's school of architecture has a bright future - and the latest and undeniable proof is the 10 projects selected in the final of the "Imagine Dumbrava Vlăsiei. Un air libre", carried out to find a community space that suits the inhabitants, the space and the philosophy of this residential park in the north of the capital.

"The challenge surpassed even our most optimistic expectations", says Maria Ioan - Senior Sales Manager. "150 entries, 50 projects submitted and, lo and behold, 10 exceptional projects chosen - and that with difficulty - for the final vote. We even had to change the rules, because we had originally planned the competition for seven projects in the final, but the exceptional quality of the projects led us to increase the number of finalists to 10."

The Dumbrava Vlăsiei urban residential park issued a challenge to architects in early spring - to imagine a community center, a place for communication, relaxation and community events that Dumbrava's residents and visitors alike could enjoy.

"The diversity, eclecticism and, at times, homogeneity and compatibility with Dumbrava's philosophy of the thinking behind these projects made it difficult for us to choose - which can only honor all participants. On behalf of Dumbravă I would like to thank all participants and congratulate the finalists. Most of the projects are of exceptional quality and would beautify any living space, public or private", says architect Adrian Soare, president of the jury that evaluated the projects.

The design competition was supported by a series of meetings entitled "Me and the Others. How we live together", in which journalist Vlad Petreanu spoke with several Romanian public figures on issues related to housing, neighborhood and community today.

Public invited to vote on projects

Once the finalists have been selected, the general public is invited to have a say in the final decision. From 30.05.2022 until 10.06.2022, the 10 projects will be available for viewing and voting on dumbravavlasiei.ro. The winning project will receive a prize of 15,000 eur and will be built in the designated area of the residential park, close to the entrance to Dumbrava Vlăsiei.

About Dumbrava Vlăsiei

Dumbrava Vlăsiei is a residential park in the north of Bucharest, a new community hosted by the old Codrii of Vlăsiei, spread over 90 hectares, including five neighboring and related villages.
