RE:EDU

An initiative on how we build the spaces where little people grow and future big people are formed

13.01.2026

There are times when a simple question can open up a whole world of reflection.
"Where do little people grow up?" - the question posed by Arhitectura Magazine in its first issue of 2025, devoted entirely to education, sparked an essential dialog about where the future is born.

Education doesn't just happen between textbooks, notes and programs. It takes shape in the spaces that host it - in the light of a classroom, in the quiet of a library, in the confidence with which a child draws its first playful lines, and every detail of the educational environment tells a story about how we understand learning and how much respect we have for those who learn.

This is the starting point for RE:EDU - a national endeavor initiated by the Romanian Union of Architects and Arhitectura Magazine, in partnership with Tarkett Romania. It is a project born from the desire to turn reflection into action and ideas into collaboration. A project that aims to build bridges between professions, institutions and generations - between architects, builders, authorities, teachers, students, psychologists, parents and civic organizations. RE:EDU is more than a series of conferences: it is an invitation to dialog, a call to responsibility and an opportunity to reconnect.

In an education system often suffocated by rigidity and ageing infrastructures, RE:EDU proposes a different way of looking at school - as a living, breathing organism that breathes, adapts and grows with those who use it. The aim is clear: to revive perceptions of educational spaces and put the user - the child, the teacher, the community - at the center of the discussion.
So it talks about schools that inspire, not just conforming buildings; about classrooms that cultivate confidence and courage, not just draw boundaries; about environments that nurture excitement and curiosity, not just transmit information.

In each city where it stops - Cluj, Oradea, Timișoara, Iași, Bucharest - RE:EDU conferences bring together the voices that can transform the system: architects, decision-makers, teachers, students, psychologists and education experts, to search together for answers to the question "Where are we training future grown-ups?" Because where the little people grow, the future is already taking shape, and that future needs spaces that are thoughtfully designed, empathetically designed and built with vision.

RE:EDU is a plea for collaboration, a laboratory of ideas and a wake-up call: education cannot reform without a new architecture - one of spaces, but also of relationships, values, respect for people.

Spaces that inspire learning

In an ever-changing world, school must become a space of adaptability and inspiration, and for this to happen, an approach is needed that unites technical expertise with empathy, innovation with responsibility, sustainability with aesthetics.

Tarkett brings this complex experience to the RE:EDU dialog table - a way of thinking about space from the inside out, starting from the real needs of those who use it every day: children, teachers, the community.

Through its solutions for education, developed with care for the health of users and the planet, Tarkett proposes an architecture of caring: materials that reduce noise, enhance safety, support comfort and bring joy through natural colors and textures.
It is a form of design that doesn't impose, but supports - that doesn't dominate space, but enriches it.

Together for a new architecture of education

Beyond walls and technical plans, school is a life experience, a place where children discover who they are and who they can become. It is their first contact with the world, with the community, with the space that gives them security or, on the contrary, limits them. This is why RE:EDU is not just a reflection on architecture, but a call to reconnect education with people, to recognize that space can be a teacher and design can become a form of pedagogy.

This belief is reflected in the values of Tarkett, which, as a core partner in the RE:EDU approach, supports the mission to transform the school into a space that inspires, supports and empowers. For Tarkett, education is not just an application area of design, but the essence of a vision for the future: one in which people grow up in healthy, bright and balanced environments - places that help them think freely and feel part of a whole.

Shared vision. Shared future

Based on shared values such as respect for the user, concern for the future and the conviction that well-thought spaces can inspire and encourage learning, together with the Romanian Union of Architects and Arhitectura Magazine, Tarkett chooses to contribute to an approach that invites to redesign not only schools, but also the way we understand education as a social, cultural and emotional phenomenon.

Thus, Tarkett contributes experience, solutions and a deep understanding of how the built environment influences the well-being and motivation of those who use it, as well as expertise on materials that support health and performance, becoming a discreet but essential tool in support of an education that puts the human being at its center.
So each conference becomes a bridge, an exercise of collaboration and co-creation around the same fundamental question: how do we build the spaces where little people grow and future big people are formed?
