Unfolded

Anything well laid out, regardless of its size or nature, be it object or process, can be decanted into as few words as possible. Only then is it clear, understood and assumed. Wisdom Of those words that can encompass the essence of what we believe about the creative endeavor and the whole architectural approach, the first is wisdom. I believe this is the synthesizing word of the design/execution process. Implicit in its meaning is deep understanding coupled with the flexibility it offers, negotiation backed by correct prioritization. In it there is room for the idea and room for sifting it into the finality of a habitable space, a usable object. We are, of course, talking about an unavoidable path, an implicit link between what is thought and what is done. We're talking about a normality that we do not stop to question. This normality is the normality whose logic we discover as we go along and from various experiences, in a nuanced, subjective way. But questioning our own path is extremely important. And, I hope, not rare. Negotiation is the second The evolution of each project is, in itself, an exercise of negotiation in the continual attempt to settle correctly on particular aspects, both ideational and mundane, a negotiation in which the right answer is continually adapted. Continuity Along this path, one of the most important aspects is the absence of limits, the absence of boundaries between design and execution. And they should not even exist. What exists instead is finding a healthy relationship between the "drawing" and its translation into reality, a fast-paced route, never traveled blindly, never under the umbrella of "it goes like this". The conclusions come from our experience as practitioners, firstly as designers, and then, more importantly, as managers of execution - an integral part of the profession that many of us take for granted, but rarely seem to name. Poor in the cultural valences that drive our passions and tickle our egos in the realm of architecture, the latter is responsible for turning dreams into reality. So not to be neglected. It is only when the two sides cohabit that the gears are set in motion. And because we are talking about a dynamic process, we have chosen a 'dynamic' project. The KINETIC story began with an idea, like everything else we put our heart and passion into, but, at least as important, the KINETIC product took shape after many discussions, positioning and repositioning in terms of function and space, after trying to understand the needs of the client as deeply as possible, to find the optimal formula - at least in our subjective vision. The headquarters of Kinetic Sport & Medicine is a space designed to accommodate a physiotherapy clinic in an existing building, in the red, in a non compartmentalized floor. The building does not represent Kinetic's image, so the proposed solution was an interior space with a strong character. Read the full text in issue 1 / 2015 of Architecture Magazine
