In 1961, the UIA launched an international competition on the theme "A Traveling Theater". The national prize-winning projects were to be presented in an exhibition of student-architects that took place from July 4-7, 1961, in London, on the occasion of the VI UIA Congress.

The Institute of Architecture "Ion Mincu", following the jury of the national competition, presented three projects elaborated by students.

Corneliu Dumitrescu's project (workshop Prof. Ascanio Damian) proposed a polygonal volume in plan, whose roof was supported on frames by six masts anchored to the ground.

The project of student Ioan Lucăcel (workshop prof. arch. Mircea Alifanti) was composed of a prismatic volume realized by the displacement of a metal truss structure that supported the canvas roof.

The project by student Ruxandra Rădulescu Fotino (workshop prof. arh. Horia Maicu) generated a cylindrical space covered with a "bicycle wheel" type cable system, supported by a structure of light metal poles and beams.

The designs envisioned mountable/dismountable elements with which the proposed volumes could be realized.
The exhibition was visited by Prince Philip and Romania's participation was mentioned in the Congress documents.
