Compromises - Negotiations...

Since the time when I was reviewing books in the magazine Arhitectura(old series), and then when I was writing reports for doctoral commissions, I have felt a tension generated by the confrontation between the text and the "personal" book that the mere mention of the title probably generates in each of us.This feeling is somewhat amplified in the case of COMPROMISURI - NEGOCIERI, especially because the present issue will simultaneously display the perceptions and opinions of several contributors, which I have not previously reviewed. Decades ago, I considered recollection of the definition of terms in a field at the beginning of a discussion of that field to be an attribute of wooden language, and so I was somewhat surprised when I later found the same procedure in The Origins of the Work of Art by Heidegger (along with Blaga, the guiding spirit of our teacher Titus Mocanu). The present-day electronic media allow almost instantaneous access to dictionaries, and so we shall not use up printed pages in this way, but rather we shall straightaway put forward some conclusions: in Romanian the definitions slide extremely naturally from compromise to compromising, with the obligatory pejorative note... |
