Itinerary of an architect - Tiberiu Niga (1906-1979)

"If you walk around Bucharest, especially in the select neighborhoods, you often come across nameplates with architect Tiberiu Niga written on them. The envious colleagues of the time used to say that his success was due not so much to his talent - which it was hard to deny - as to the charm he exerted on the capricious wives of his clients. He was indeed a handsome man; a handsomeness preserved with distinction and dignity, long and long; it is not easy to grow old handsome.

Tall, lean, long-legged, an impeccable figure, the fruit of many hours spent on the tennis courts, in the swimming pool, or on the ski slopes, when he walked, he brought to mind the graceful silhouettes of flamingo birds.

He was always happy to strike up a conversation, to exchange opinions, but most of all to tell stories. He had traveled far and seen much; many travel but see so little. What he told, how he told, how he moved, how he smoked, carried an air of a world that no longer exists."
