Trends and directions in residential architecture - Timisoara

The Faculty of Architecture of Timișoara, together with the Romanian Academy - Timișoara branch, the Polytechnic University of Timișoara, the Order of Architects of Romania - Timiș territorial branch and the Romanian Register of Urban Planners, territorial office of the West Development Region organized the symposium Trends and Directions in Housing Architecture within the Timișoara Academic Days.

Conf. dr. dr. arh. Ioan Andreescu opened the symposium held in the Adetim Space - Center for Architecture in Teresia Bastion. In the first session Housing and Society, moderated by conf. dr. dr. arh. Vlad Gaivoronschi, presented: Maja Bâldea and Răzvan Oprița: HOUSING 2.0 - mutations in the social landscape. Implications in the didactic transfer; Cătălina Bocan: Living in a "block" - increasing personal comfort at the expense of urban image. Case study: Timișoara; Claudiu Toma: MEDIAARHITECTURA - imagin(ați)e in contemporary housing architecture; Smaranda Bica and Sevastean Ianca: The quality of collective housing constructions in Calea Girocului; Codruța Negrulescu and Cristian Dumitrescu: Ways and modes of perceiving and imagining housing and their influence on the built environment; Mirela Szitar, Smaranda Bica and Otilia Tudoran: Ecological principles used in the renovation of residential blocks built from prefabricated panels; Mircea Sămânță, Mirela Szitar and Miodrag Popov: Study on aspects of the social pillar of sustainable development in the residential blocks neighborhoods of Timișoara.

At the second session - Housing and Urban Space, moderated by conf. dr. dr. arh. Radu Radoslav, spoke: Ștefan Dună: Defining the concept of Urban Engineering and the need to introduce it at educational, legislative and urban administrative levels; Marius Găman, Smaranda Bica and Ana-Maria Branea: The evolution of typologies of territorial development of housing program; Ștefana Bădescu, Radu Radoslav, Iasmina Nicolau: Urban strategies for raising the quality of life of human communities; Radu Radoslav, Ștefana Bădescu, Lidia Păcurar and Luiza Spiridon: Adaptability of collective vs. individual housing (Timișoara case study); Monica Izvercianu, Maarten van Ham and Ana-Maria Branea: Importance of community formation in housing program development; Diana Belci and Sorin Ciurariu: Urban density and collective housing in Timișoara; Otilia Tudoran and Mirela Szitar: Possibilities for rebuilding rural areas in Romania affected by disasters; Vladimir Obradovici: Comparative study between village and cemetery in the cultural landscape of Banat.
