Breaking news! Ioana Ciolacu wins the BigSEE 2020 Grand Prize

The Month of Design Festival has been postponed to spring 2021, but has announced the winners of the BigSEE Grand Prize honors.

The 2020 BigSEE 2020 Grand Prize for Fashion Design in the One Step Ahead category went to Ioana Ciolacu for ROCHIA CU NODURI and the 2020 Strictly Necessary Things Journey.

The winner's statement was:

"Inspiration? This outfit jokingly reinterprets luxury tailoring. Made entirely from scraps of materials, it aims to mimic both the shape and labor-intensive techniques of luxury tailoring, with a tweak towards sustainability. This piece took two months to make - from cutting the fabric pieces to assembling them, all by hand, using only hand-picked scraps from my older collections.

Materials and techniques? By combining a system of knots with a laser cut technique, I modeled a unique shape, meant to showcase creativity and prove the infinite possibilities of sustainable thinking."
