From PUZ to traffic

Interview with Mr. arh. Matei Damian, chief architect of Bucharest City Hall

Mr. Matei Damian was kind enough to talk to us about traffic problems in Bucharest and beyond. In fact, we talked much more about what a city hall looks like from the inside and what needs to be done before we can "solve the traffic", or the authorizations, or the PUG.

It gave us the perspective of practicing architecture from the opposite side, the architect who has, or should have, the big picture of the city that each of us contribute to every day as architects, residents, drivers and pedestrians.

It was a very long discussion, which honored us, because we very much appreciated the time invested and the effort that the chief architect made to explain a small part of what this function entails and the problems it faces. Of course, we wanted to find out what the solutions are, and in the text below you will find some of them.
