In the beginning was walking; exploring, knowing and the courageous act of stepping into the unknown. Then it was the street: steps multiplied and trodden formed footpaths, giving confidence in the safety of the journey and the route to a destination. Marking the crossroads was the third stage and, as a final act, nomadism was joined by hospitality: temporary protection for the traveler. From the first impulse of curiosity, of expanding the visible horizon, walking and the street have been our tools. Architecture was born nomadic, argues Francesco Careri.
