Representative portraits of student life

"Being a student at "Ion Mincu" is now and has always been a source of pride for those who acquire this status and admiration for those outside. It is a status that you acquire mainly through hard work, determination and seriousness. Of course, there is also a considerable dose of talent, but in the absence of these qualities, it loses its strength. "Mincu is more than an institution of higher education. It is a team. The bonds are all the stronger as the members of this team are bound by strong goals and objectives - those of actively contributing to the creation of a living environment of a higher quality, of changing the built environment for the better, and of educating current and future generations in the democratic spirit of belonging and individual contribution to the well-being of the built space."

Admission
University admission is a particularly important moment in the life of any high school student. The "Mincu" entrance exam is a test that tests the candidate's specific qualities and aptitudes, such as: spatial vision, creativity, imagination, general specialized knowledge, ability to represent graphically in plan and space, etc. This moment is a practical test after a training period of preparation to face the challenges of a demanding exam. Admission remains a milestone in the life of any student which, together with the experiences of excitement, passion and determination during their studies, complete the beginning of the road to a special profession.

Freshers' Ball
Since 1959, the students of our university have been celebrating what was once called the "5th Year Carnival", but now we call it the Architecture Ball. The event has become a big one both for us and for students from other universities.
Every year, the Mincu Students' Association tries, through a different theme and a unique concept, both through the unconventional location and the arrangement of 7 spaces including the main hall on the ground floor, the 5 workshops on the first floor and the university terrace, to promote an overall picture of what student-architect life is all about.
An important part of the event is the preparation, which is a time of team building, entrepreneurship, organization, creativity, as well as competitions such as the workshop design competition. Teams of students can submit a project expressing their own vision of the theme, with the 5 best proposals being realized for the evening.
Thus, every year we organize an event with the help of students, for students, with the aim of encouraging cultural and social spirit through live music, concept and atmosphere.

Sketch sketch
The sketch sketch or one-day projects are an important moment in the life of students at the School of Architecture. Its objectives are to verify the knowledge acquired during the semester, to stimulate individual study and to develop the future architects' self-evaluation capacity. Individual study, lasting 8 hours, on a topic of the day. There are three sketches each semester, and the jury is made up of at least three teachers who evaluate the projects taught.

Workshop
Design workshops are accompanied by workshop lectures and debates. The design activity represents the main formative activity in the field of study "Architecture", accounting for about 50% of the total teaching activities; the design activity synthesizes and exercises the practical application of skills acquired in other disciplines.
The objectives of the design activity must be understood as sets of professional competences to be conferred to the future graduate at various stages of the learning process, targeting the specific formative goals of the study programs offered by UAUIM.
Within each semester module, several types of exercises can be carried out - general architecture projects, urban planning, interior architecture, integrated projects, specialized projects - aimed at ensuring the student's acquisition of the sets of competences established as formative target for each semester and year of study. General architecture projects can be studio projects and year projects, long projects, short projects and one-day projects (sketch sketch). In the first year, the design work also includes check projects scheduled in the assessment sessions at the end of the semester.

courses
The aim of the courses is to acquire theoretical knowledge of the principles and methodology of the disciplines in order to put into practice the concepts acquired in the workshops. The courses cover a wide range of issues, designed to make students discover the critical issues of the field, explain how they construct their ideas, identify specific problems, etc.
Practice
Professional practice plays an important role in the training of future specialists in architecture, urban planning, landscape or interior design. In this way, the aim is to apply the theoretical knowledge and professional skills acquired in the workshop activities of the school curriculum in specialized practice. Internships are carried out in design offices, planning and design departments, specialized departments of local or central government, etc.
Also, through the Office for International Professional Practice, activities related to international student exchanges are carried out for the purpose of professional internships in the field of study, which are considered as an integrated activity of university education.
