My itinerary to Marcel Iancu

The itinerary which took me to Marcel Iancu was quite lengthy! It started back in 1998, during my second staying in Bucharest (the first time I spent there a few days was in 1993, as a guest of the Romanian Union of Writers).
This time I was hosted by my friend (and later wife), Cristina, and her parents, in the former Uranus neighbourhood, not far from the People’s House. During the many strolls I took in Bucharest in the weeks to come, I started to “read” the city: historically, politically, literary, aesthetically. Yet I lacked knowledge on the history of architecture and soon realised that, in its absence, my “reading” of the city was limited.
It so happens that I ended up in a family of architects, my father-in-law
