The existing building, in good physical condition owing to appropriate use and a recent rehabilitation of the façades, displays a series of differences in relation to the project.

Marcel Iancu’s work of architecture and his important role in promoting modern architecture in Romania are quite well known. The events organized at the centenary of his birth in 1995 – the vast exhibition at the National Museum of Art of Romania and the exhibition catalogue, published by Simetria and Meridiane publishing houses – were the first and most relevant for a comprehensive perspective of his currently known works and theoretical contributions in the field of architecture1. They were periodically followed by various events – exhibitions, colloquies etc. – which brought to the attention of the public and specialists the complex personality of the artist (close to the European avant-garde movements), the theorist and one of the key promoters of modern architecture in our country.
