The last beginning

On 23rd February 1941, Marcel Iancu disembarked at Tel Aviv in the company of his wife and two daughters. It is here that he was to start life afresh at the age of 46 and with the responsibility of a family. However, he was confident the land of his ancestors would be rich in promises for him too. He had always been optimistic, productive and enterprising when in Zürich, Paris or Bucharest also perhaps because, as he confessed later, „having been born in beautiful Romania, to a well-off family, I had the happiness to be brought up in a climate of freedom and spiritual enlightenment.”1 He was young back then, but, more importantly, the beginning of each stage had been a result of his own will.
