Concordia Primary School, Ploiești

How the project started

The story of Concordia Primary School started in the fall of 2019, when the director of Edu-Campus Concordia, Christian Esterman, told me about the intention of the Concordia Humanitarian Organization to build a private school, with German and Romanian language teaching, where children from disadvantaged social backgrounds would study alongside those from families with opportunities, following a curriculum and teaching methodology based on the Austrian model.

Initiated in the 1990s by an Austrian monk impressed by the plight of children living in the canals of the Northern Railway Station and in Romania's insalubrious orphanages, the Concordia project has been supported by both the Austrian government and local sponsors. It develops around a campus on the ring road of Ploiești and contributes to the social integration through vocational training of vulnerable young people in Romania.
