The Varlaam Metropolitan School and Kindergarten project explores the intersection between tradition and innovation, seeking to look beyond the functional boundaries of the conventional educational space. The aim is to create not just an academic setting, but a landmark of integrated education, a place that creates belonging, stimulates interaction and creative intelligence, helps define community.

It is amazing how today, in 2025, we still have the same schools we had 150 years ago. Children seated in desks one behind the other, facing the blackboard, in a rectangular classroom where the teacher is at the front and teaches, suggesting one-way transmission of information. Studies show that space and structure create culture! What culture is there in a school where space is as it is in schools that seem frozen in time, that merely stick posters on the walls?
