The BUCHAREST 2000 Competition

In the following pages, we reproduce, as facsimiles, a selection of articles published in the magazine Arhitectura in 1996, in the context of the Bucharest 2000 international competition. We have chosen to preserve them in their original form and layout, as a record of how the architectural profession viewed the transformation of the capital at that time. Reread three decades later, these texts speak not only of the competition entries but also of the hopes, vocabulary, and vision of an era that imagined Bucharest’s future with great confidence.
