DRD. ARH . ALIN TOMA NEGOESCU has chosen as the subject of his doctoral thesis the preparation of a monograph dedicated to the life and work of the great Romanian architect OCTAV DOICESCU

This article appears in the year preceding the celebration of 110 years since the birth of acad. prof. arh. Octav Doicescu. The year 2012 will be marked by cultural events dedicated to this event: conferences, book launches, exhibitions, radio and TV broadcasts, etc. We will explain the need to organize this extensive "Octav Doicescu Cultural Program" by briefly presenting the life and work of Professor Octav Doicescu, by arguing for and against his personality, the final conclusions being reserved for the classification of projects, buildings and his theoretical studies as contributions to the development of the Romanian school of architecture. The archival research, which is the basis of the present material, supplemented by the testimonies of those who knew him, is intended to restore for the current generation the historical and cultural value of a work of architecture (architectural creation with artistic and philosophical values) that developed in the context of modernism, linking in an original way the tradition and the regional spirit with modernity; we want to let the reader to become convinced of the necessity of our approach. So who was Octav Doicescu?
