A new project is undoubtedly a unique experience, involving the site, the theme of the project and above all the client.

On an ordinary lot in the new residential area in the north of the capital, "Tipografilor", with an existing house of questionable quality, to be demolished, with neighbors quite close on the adjacent sides, the client wants a single-family house with increased privacy!

Thus was born the "Sertar" House, a house "isolated" on the lot and, at the same time, introverted and isolated from the neighbors.

The openings on the short sides and the almost total closures on the long sides give the house the appearance of a box with two drawers; the living room and the garage, which, through volumetry and differentiated finishes, dialog with the austere volume of the prism.

By creating a courtyard (as an intermediary space), partially open horizontally and vertically, an attempt was made to achieve a relationship of continuity and intimacy between the interior space (the dining area) and the exterior space (the swimming pool), giving the impression of a continuous space.

The penetration of light horizontally through the median house both vertically and horizontally leads to a subtle play of light and shadow.

All this remained at the stage of a project built with much joy, but unfinished for reasons independent of the wonderful and rare relationship between designer and client, remaining - as stated in the preamble - a unique experience.

A new project is, doubtless, a unique experience, which involves the site, the theme of the project and especially the client.

On an ordinary plot in the new Northern residential area of our capital city, i.e. "Tipografilor", on which a house of doubtful quality stands, whose demolition is requested, with neighbors located fairly closely on the adjacent sides, the client wished a one-family house with increased intimacy.

This is how the Drawer House was born, a house isolated on its own plot, and also introverted and isolated from its neighbors.

The openings on the short sides and the almost complete closings on the long sides, lend the house the appearance of a two-drawer box; the living room and the garage, by their volumetry and different finishing, engage in a dialog with the austere volume of the prism.

The purpose of the courtyard (as an intermediary space), partly opened along the horizontal and vertical axes, was to achieve a relationship of continuity and intimacy between the interior space (the dining place) and the exterior space (the swimming pool), giving the sensation of continuous space.

The light which pierces the medial plane of the house, vertically and horizontally, produces a subtle play of light and shadows.

All these froze in the project stage, a project prepared with a lot of joy, but unfinished, for reasons beyond the wonderful and rare relationship formed between the designer and his client, remaining - like we said in the beginning - a unique experience.
