FAU-UTCN. Subjective chronology 2012-2016

2012
May
- By order of the rector of UTCN1 is appointed conf. dr. arh. Romulus Zamfir dean FAU and prof. dr. arh. Gheorghe Vais prodecan; FAU proposal was conf. dr. arh. Romulus Zamfir and conf. dr. dr. arh. Virgil Ionel Pop.
- The new management notes the existence of protocols concluded between UTCN and the University of Oradea, which obliged our faculty to organize annually, since 2009, the final exam for students enrolled in the Architecture degree program of the Faculty of Architecture and Construction of the Faculty of Architecture and Construction of Oradea; the topic has sparked heated discussions in the Faculty Council and has generated a growing current of opinion against this situation.
July
- FAU organized the first edition of the international workshop "Questions - Trends in Architectural and Urban Planning Education - Between Fundamental Approach and Research by Design".
- 113 places were put out to competition, of which 105 (budget) and 8 (fee) for which 269 candidates competed, i.e. 2.38 candidates/place; it meant a drastic decrease in fee places (compared to 35-50 in previous years) due to a new revelation of the university management, which had started to appreciate the security of budget funding rather than the self-financing obtained through fees, much appreciated and promoted in previous years.
- There was a continuation of the crisis of spaces in which the faculty operates, but also their lack of representativeness; it was an inevitable consequence of the hypertrophy of the years of study and the predictable result of the generalized policy at UTCN level according to which "where there are many, the financial power increases"; significant was the fact that our first year, with 113 students, had to fit in the auditorium which had a capacity of 105 seats.
October
- Enrolled students: 811 of which 495 on budget and 316 fee-paying; averaging 135 students per year of study.
- During the year 2 Head of Works posts were advertised.
- Architect diplomas issued by UTCN are recognized in the EU following the EC (Brussels) acceptance obtained in 2012. FAU is also a member of the European Association for Architectural Education and participates in the regular meetings organized by it for the continuous improvement of European architectural education with the aim of homogenization.
