The beginning of higher architectural education in Cluj-Napoca

Perhaps before speaking about architectural education, it would be useful to recall that a more elevated initiation in various specializations began in Europe in the 12th century (University of Bologna), and then the higher schools, from the end of the Middle Ages, have multiplied continuously until today, with universities becoming an emblematic function in many cities. In our country, the "birth" of universities began in the 19th century (Cluj, Iași, București, Sibiu, Brașov, Alba Iulia), and a distinction could be made between host cities: first-tier university cities (or "university centers") with a group/system of universities; second-tier university cities with a single university; third-tier university cities with a branch/subsidiary of a first-tier city1, generally after 1950.
