Polaire

Polaire is a "label" that was born in 2014, with the premise of crystallizing a direction in current design that we are experimenting with in artifacts (jewelry, eyewear and shoes) that are meant to accessorize and emphasize belonging to a particular niche. If we were asked to describe our environment that characterizes our way of thinking and our attitude, we would only answer with a link: theklob.tumblr.com

Our label is a symbiosis of three entities, friends (Anna-Maria Pankiewicz, Daniel Reist and Horațiu Vâlcu), whose background is rooted in art, architecture, economics and fashion. Simbioza creates a think tank where each team member's creative contributions are incubated, ideas that then become physical objects.

The main focus is on using 3D modeling programs as an interface or as a generator of a characteristic aesthetic, which is then translated into tangible objects using complex manufacturing methods (CNC routing, 3D printing, laser).

The starting moment was the collaboration between Polaire and Eva Poleschinski at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Berlin in 2014, where the first prototypes of the shoes and glasses were presented and the feedback was very good (e.g. appearances in "Elle" and "Financial Times").

Two further collaborations with Dawid Tomaszewski and Anouk Wipprecht followed, and with the latter we are still collaborating on the Open source dress project.

Polaire is based in Vienna, where there is a very friendly climate regarding financial support from the authorities. So far we have received two grants of €25,000 and €45,000 respectively from the agencies Departure and AWS Kreativwirtschaft.
