At the westernmost point of Finland lies the city of Vaasa, which is made up of three island areas: Mainland, Palosaari and Vaskiluoto. The island of Vaskiluoto has long been regarded as the city's forest and harbor, but remains deeply disconnected from the rest of the urban fabric, both infrastructurally and functionally.

The project proposes to incorporate Vaskiluoto Island into the coherence of the city, by combining infrastructure with community needs. The subpolar climate, specific to the Nordic countries, has always posed social challenges. Thus, for the year-round activation of the local
