Belgrade is a city born between two waters, the Sava and the Danube. However, political and economic conditions and natural hazards have led to a separate development of the city and its banks, which have been entirely used for industrial purposes and then abandoned. Today the Danube embankment is seen as a lifeless, residual space whose industrial relics lie amidst abundant vegetation and memories of a bygone era. These dormant places are now being revived with the development of Belgrade's Linear Park on the former railroad tracks that once separated the waterfront from the rest of the city.
